A Real Rodeo Visits Las Vegas

Hey, everyone! Get your cowgirl on! When I first moved to Las Vegas from Texas, I was surprised to see just how “Texan” this place really is. Recently we met some wonderful “down home” folks at the Miss Kitty’s Jeans to Jewels Event hosted by Frank and Bonnie Martin at the Bitter Root Ranch. This event, benefiting the Opportunity Village, is named after Las Vegas philanthropist, Kitty Rodman, who also is a longtime supporter of this organization.

So Brad and I put on our cowboy boots (I actually wear mine everyday) and hightailed it to the Bitter Root Ranch. We watched roping, country western dancing and singing, and chowed down on an actual “chuckwagon” dinner. Brad is a New Yorker, so the rodeo scene is new to him, however, he did enjoy watching the animals. One day I’ll get him on a horse so he can learn to ride.

We’re looking forward to attending more rodeo events, namely NFR (National Finals Rodeo). Nothing beats the dirt, grit, and grunt of the rodeo.

While many Las Vegas residents may be “citified,” they have a southern heart of gold. Howdy, y’all!!!
